Looking at using a mitel 3300 as a hosted voice solution for 60-70 sites each comprising of around 5-10 phones which will use a VPN back to 3300 controller. Are there any limitations that may restrict me in achieving this ?
Well, I know that there are alot of variables, but this is a startup company, and I am a 3300 engineer, so I i was thinking maybe an ISS with MCD and SIP with tenancy for sites. But been digging around with MiCD, and still reading about MiCD, hence the need for asking these questions. Router to Router VPN's or anything that is secure and low overhead. This is still in the concept/planning stagesm, so I would welcome your input.
MiCD has a high buy in. ISS with SIP and Teleworker would be my choice. No VPN to worry about. Teleworker also supports local streaming so phones at the remote office that might call each other don't use up bandwidth. You could use compression in the ISS for the Teleworker phones to decrease pipe requirements. We have done this and it works.
Yeah, Ive been over the MiCD EGL and decided to check pricing on the 2 software part numbers. A little too much to invest at an early stage. So maybe better to run an ISS with MCD. The teleworker mbg is a very good idea. Also read about it being used with MiCD so thought about using it as well. Did you experience any "gotcha's" in your deployment ? The MCD and MBG aspect is straight forward but what about Latency,Jitter,Delay,Loss ?
Could do speedtests before deploying on the client side. Any idea's of Bandwidth requirements. I think its like 80Kb per call G711 but what is it in G729 and also what about overhead ?
Have found this to be detrimental to the MBG server as it takes up alot of processor resource. Think it even mentions in the EG not to use server if you can compress via PBX.
