I have a feeling this will be a newbie-like question but here is my situation;

A certain PC has a statc IP set to:
IP: 192.168.1.16

It's host name shows
Hostname: dummy.server.com
if I scan with an IP scanning app and an nslookup on .1.16 confirms that the name is Dummy

However in Windows and with these same IP scanning apps, it shows the NetBIOS name to be
NetBIOS Info: server\Worker01 (instead of server\Dummy)

Through CPanel -> System -> Full Computername it shows the PC name as Worker01. Why are there two different names for this host on the network and how would I remove "Dummy?

Right click 'my computer' > properties > computer name > change > "computer name".
If you are on a domain, I suggest you leave the domain, rename, then rejoin.

Warning: Before leaving the domain make sure you know the local admin password.

I guess that's the only way - unjoin from domain - and rejoin.

Thanks guys.
