In the thread mentioned above, I found the problem HOST_BIND_BAD_FRU_CONFIGURATION, but there was no solution. I realize the post is old, but my google found it so I thought I would post the solution I found to the problem.
I received this error when I was trying to bind a bunch of disk together into a Raid 5 array. I went through each of the disks I was trying to bind and they said they were "UNBOUND". The problem was that they disks were part of a raid group, but not bound. When I did the FCLI command sg -l I saw that they were part of a group. I deleted the group and they bound up just fine.
