Hopefully this is an easy one and I just haven't enough coffee this morning.
Sendmail on Redhat EL5
First RHEL build
Usually build a Solaris 10 box with Sendamil as a very simple smtp server that sends out messages to a few different
addresses as needed. These boxes are always remote and always very simple in their set up.
using xxxx.localdomain which works fine in Solaris
Under local info in the sendmail.cf I change smart realy host to DSlocalhost and add to SEnvFromSMTP and SHdrFromSMTP to reflect from address. As long as dns is set up this works perfectly for our needs.
Now with RHEL and the .mc file I'm lost.
So I went and edited the .cf in the "usual" way and get
May 20 22:56:23 xxxxx sendmail[7003]: o4IG11ei026953: to=<xxxx@xxx.com>, ctladdr=<root@localhost.localdomain> (0/0), delay=1+22:55:22, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=esmtp, pri=4620353, relay=miqs.com., dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Name server: xxx.com.: host name lookup failure
nslookups to our domain work fine. Do I need to tell sendmail to use the system dns settings?
any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
