When I type ‘hostname’ I see a one name (e.g. cfc.x.com), which is not the correct. If I go to the Network Configuration dialog box I see the correct host name, ip, subnet mask etc. Why is the hostname not being changed to the latest entry?

What does uname -n return?

If it's not the correct name, uname -S correctname followed by a reboot should set the host name correctly.

If it is correct, hostname correctname should set it correctly.

If you use sendmail, remember to change the host name in /usr/mmdf/mmdftailor as well. Annihilannic.
