I work for an organization that requires the use of a Work Flow form system to order new Static IP addresses for , in my case , a new static IP for a lazer printer.

The two main questions it asks for are the Host Name and the Subnet , in order for them to assign the proper Static IP within the required IP range.

Is the Host Name they need found within the node itself , or would this be the name of the switch that the node will reside on?

What is the best way to find out what exactly the Subnet is?

Thanks in advance!

Any computer in the same subnet as the printer should tell you the Subnet Mask and Default Gateway. If you use MS Windows, type IPCONFIG at a Command Prompt to get that. put those two items on the form.

Assuming someone has already chosen a host name for this printer, it would be on the printer's configuration page. I suspect no one has, and that you get to choose the name.

(I always chose trees as names, 'feed a printer, kill a tree'. If I liked you, you got oak or pine, if not, you got eucalyptus or baobab)

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
