I have a LAN with windows 2000 server running MDAEMON mail server for LAN purpose only. All clients are windows 2000 prof and they type 3000 is the port for webmail for Mdaemon mail server) to access the web mail of this MDAEMON mail server.

Ive heard that i can do something with "host header" file to change the webmail address from to or something like that.
Has anybdy got any idea?

Not sure about modifying the "host header" but you can do one of the following.

Instead of using the ip address, just use the domain name that resolves to the ip address of the server. Say the email addresses have the domain name mailcenter.com (johndoe@mailcenter.com) and mailcenter.com resolves to server-ipadd. If you use the url they will be able to access their email and it doesn't matter what the ip of the server is. This would allow the users to access their email from anywhere on the internet. This is how I have my users access their email.

Another way (Not Recommended) would be to modify the host file on each of the workstations and add an entry for say mail.com to point to the ip address of the server. If you want more information on that I can give it to you but I don't recommend it and it is an administrative pain.

Hope that helps and if you have any more questions, let me know. Not to many people read this forum and I will do my best to help you out if I can.
