I am running CW2K on Solaris, DNS works for devices in DNS, but some devices do not have static IPs or names. I want to edit the host file so that CW2K can reference the host file if it is not able to resolve via DNS. DNS should still be the preferred source, and the host file secondary. Are YOU Sancho?....No you are not. Is Scott Baio Sancho?....NO, he is not!....Only.."I"....am Sancho!

Hi

Mixing DNS and a static hostfile isn't a good practice.
Their is a file in /etc nsswitch.conf which states your order of getting requests but it really doesn't work too well.
So it must be on or the other.
A better way may be to enable a local DNS cache on your Solaris server.
(1) Edit /etc/ncsd.conf to select a local cache
(2) /etc/init.d/ncsd start

Hope this helps
