I've been asked to help some one who has W95 installed and a partition is a host drive. The hard drive is 1 Gig;(nearly full) the host drive is 800 meg which I believe is a partition and it is full. First what is the host drive? Next, I want to clean it out and install W98SE. How do you handle the "host drive?" - Tmradius

Insert a Win 98 boot floppy(a Win 95 boot floppy will not have the DOS drivers required to see the CD-ROM drive), restart, select 'Start with CD-ROM support' from the menu, and see if the DOS drivers on the floppy can access the CD-ROM drive.

If so, then you should be able to get rid of everything by reformatting.
Also, repartition the HD before reformatting if you want just a single partition.
