In hosts tab for navisphere, this is what I see following a few of our connected hosts, if I right click and display faults it says "Unable to connect, the host is unmanaged because the host agent was down during CIMOM startup.

I have restarted the service, server etc plenty of times, its been like this on my cx700 for two days!

it ussualy is a network problem, because CX can not reach (via network) the host.

can you ping form host (unreachable) to CX?

Cheers.

yes can ping both sp's, the server(s) in question are clustered (forgot to mention that) do I need to add the agent service as a cluster resource?

no, it is not necessary. NAviagent works with the host, not his services or applications (who are cluster aware)

did you see the event viewer for errors or events?
do you have some firewall between CX and hosts?

I have the same problem - it seems that the array is trying to use the private IP addresses for the hosts (the ips for heartbeat network on the cluster).

Is there anyway to change this?

I was able to fix this by changing the order of the network connections (Network Settings>Advanced). MS recommends placing the private network first on the list but the only way I was able to get Navisphere to use the non private IP was to put it at the top of the list...

I am having a similar issue on a FC4700, I know, I know. There is a node down in a cluster at the moment with a private NIC issue and both nodes are reading "host agent not reachable", however "the array is operating normally", the issue seems to be host based, any reccomendations other than the NIC order?
