Would appreciate input from any Tech Expert, and/or users who came across the same or similar case scenario.
I have been looking at a friend's DELL Dimension 4300, P4 1.6GHz 512 SDRAM, ATI Video Card 64MB;4X AGP, 19" Monitor (Win ME) with a weird display behavior.
The system functions flawlessly running any type of application, alone or simultaneously even with heavy graphics demand-type. Perfect display, resolution and no glitches. However, upon logging-in to the Web, a strange series are displayed between the lower left corner of the monitor, starting from the Start button, extending to the Quick Launch Toolbar. These continuous number of lines are displayed in a confined 3-4 layered pattern parallel to each other and do not show except when any Media Player is running (via the Web), downloading e-mail, etc..
Executed several steps and recommendations such as swaped the Monitor with another running 17" one, reinstalled Drivers, Regaussed, verified various number of color bits with resolution plus some other steps that I do not think they are of any merit to this posting. However, with all this been said and done, the same pattern of parallel lines persisted. In addition to this, a General Fault Protection (within SOD)is displayed re VXDLDLC and a locked system status is in effect upon closing all applications and shutting down.
I still need to check the last item in my troubleshooting where I will try to install another video card.
The question is as follows: is this a video card hardware or software fault behavior or am I missing anything here?
I visited various number of Knowedge Based Forums and verified some FAQ pages re "Video Display Error", but none touches this behavior or had come cross the same issue.
Appreciate anyone's input and thank you in advance.
George
