Hooking up Flash to a DB

Hi Everyone

I'm relatively new at Flash, with a background in ASP and database development. I recently went to a FlashMX seminar (introducing the product), and the presenter showed us some sites that were fully integrated with backend databases. He did a demonstration, but the apps he built all pulled their data from xml flat files. Does anyoen know a place or book that explains both the actionscript to pull the info from the XML files, and (if possible) how to do it from a bigger DB such as SQL Server or MySQL?
