Hi.
I was wondering if it's easy to connect a second PSU to a PC already with an existing PSU simply by hijacking the On/Off switch of the existing PSU ? Both PSU would have to power up at the same time ...would this work IYO or would it fry something ?
TIA
Stef

You can connect two ATX type PSUs and have the motherboard turn them both on and off. Connect the second PSU green wire on the ATX connector to the green wire on your main PSU, and connect one of the black wires on the second PSU to a black wire on the main PSU.

Most ATX power supplies will not regulate properly unless there is a fairly heavy load (about 10 watts) on the 5V output.

Since the second PSU is probably not powering a MOBO, you could power your drives from it which would provide the necessary load on the 5V output.
