Hooking laptop harddrive to desktop as slave

It would be a of great help if anyone knows of a device that would connect a harddrive from a laptop to a desktop pc.

Most SCSI based Apple laptops had the ability to look like a SCSI drive on a Apple desktop, now they use Firewire for the same effect, they can look like an additional drive on your (Apple) desktop.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
