Homeplug devices

I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but...

Has anyone ever used a "homeplug" device? One device plugs into your power outlet and connects to your switch/router and the other plugs into another power outlet and then to a pc or whatever.

I hear good and bad things about them, some people say they work great, others say they don't.

The older original stuff was lousy. The stuff introduced late 2002 by the powerline alliance is incredible. It has solved many issues for me. For a review by a very experienced network guy, read:

Ok, tried two NetGear homeplug devices this weekend. This is in an old house with weird wiring. They worked great, no lag/errors/problems whatsoever. No need to install software either. I definitely recommend them.

Glad it worked for you. These devices are finding an audience now that the newer versions appeared at the turn of the year. I think they are just great.
