maybe u can help me
i have the php trident set up on my home computer

i have a web site that i rent from a server company (freenet.de)
theres no php support on my freenet server (i have to pay more 4 that)

can i put a link from my registered site to my server at home?
the ip address at home changes every time i shut apache down..no
matter i can easily change the link

say my ip address was 212.144.147.193 (when i open winMySQLadmin1.3
it says --hunter(my comp name) 212.144.147.193)
my html files at home are in my apache file next to htdocs (not in it)
i call the file (that contains my .htm files) homeserve
what would my link look like ?

<a href=&quot; home</a>
or <a href=&quot; home</a>

am i on the right track?

Hi mate,

Where you would normally have localhost, substitute it for your external IP.

So localhost/test/index.shtml would become 12.12.12.12/test/index.shtml

Localhost is a loop back address, it tells your machine that the address to those files is local. When you access from another server, localhost does not come into the situation.

Hope this helps Wullie
