Hi, I was looking to get some help setting up my VPN connection. The host computer is running Windows 7 with a Netgear WNR2000 router. We have gone through and set up the incoming VPN connection using the tutorial found here: . When we go to use another computer to VPN into our host machine, we have created new connections to our VPN in the “Connect to a Network” section. When we go to connect to the VPN connection, it attempts to connect for a couple of seconds, and then returns: “Failed to connect to Test VPN”. After that when you click “Diagnose the Problem”, it reads “*my ip address* is not set up to establish a connection on port “pptp” with this computer.” We have tried going into the router settings at 192.168.1.1 on our web browser, and under the section “Port Forwarding / Port Triggering” we have added the PPTP service, using PPTP as the “Server name”, and 1723 as the “Start Port” and “End Port”, with the “Server IP Address” being the ip of the host machine.

If anyone has advice on what might not be working properly, please let me know. Otherwise, the main purpose of this whole endeavor was to use a host computer to access media to stream from remote machines over the internet. If anyone knows of a way of accomplishing this quicker/easier than the above method, I would be open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance,
Ben
