Have SBS Server 2003 Standard, Third party security device with LT2P IPSec VPN connection.

The customer wants to access email and files from there profile on the server from home.

What’s the best way to set this up?

Any links to help.

I have remote desktop connection to the server, but I believe this is not the correct way to allow the users to gain access to email and files on the server.

well, there are two ways:

save the files/emails on external disk and send them per UPS..
Have someone faxing the faxes to the destination...

Does your customer has any FW?
1) Publish the OWA of the SBS for the access of the emails.
2) Depending on the files he/she wants to access to you enable it on the FW too... by publishing it th eVPN rules.
2.1) a VPN would create an additional security tunneling too, all this must be allow ont he FW 1st of all.
