i downloaded my site then made corrections to existing pages as well as added new ones. I used the old home page from the downloaded site and redid it. when i published my new site the server kept my old home page and added my new one. I want to unpublish the old home page and when you go to the site i want to see the new one. also the new one has errors. i corrected the errors and republished it but it will not change the first published page. I did go to reports to make sure its marked publish.

if you go to the site click on the wood button, then once in wood page click home and it brings you to the new home page. How do i get rid of the old home page

I didn't see any difference in the two. I did notice that the "new" homepage had /index.htm in the address bar and the first on didn't.

You should be able to remove the unwanted page. The only way I know how to do that would be to download an FTP program, log on to your site with it, and remove it from the server.

I'm not really familiar with Front Page, but it should have a way to remove the unwanted page in the publish to web option. Rob

More than likely, the server had a page already up with a different extension. You'll probably see that one is HTM and the other HTML. That's would be why there are two. The recommended fix:

Open FrontPage. Select File>Open Web, and open the live web site from the FrontPage.

Select View>Folders. Right click on the new page to bring up the shortcut menu and select Set as Home Page.

Right click on the old page to bring up the shortcut men. Select Rename and change the name to testpage. The reason for this is you want to leave the existing page in until you make sure everything works okay.

Then go to your browser and type in the domain name and verify that it is going to the correct home page.

After that, if you want, you can delete the page or simply wait until you publish next time. Because it was named Index, FrontPage couldn't reconcile it properly; under another name, it will ask if you want to delete it.

Oops! Forgot one more thing. After you delete the page, run a broken links report to make sure there aren't any links on the site still link to the old page.
