what would cause an URL to load itself into home page everytime the computer restarts?

If you keep having problems use this:

Correct your home page to the one you prefer, then immediately do the following:

Backup the registry and/or export the following keys:
go to Start>Run, type regedit. Navigate to:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\
Right-click on the Internet Explorer key, choose new>Key, name it Control Panel.
Right-click on the Control Panel, chose new>DWORD value, name it Homepage. Right-click
on Homepage, choose modify and type in the number 1.

This should lock your home page, so no other web site can change it.

Then navigate here and verify the homepage is correct:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
look for the Start Page entry.

Something sounds familiar there.

try my FAQ from the Internet explorer board:

dummie2, what url is loading itself? Is it a porn site? I'm going to make a guess here. Click start--run--type msconfig and click ok. Open the startup tab and look and see if you happen to have a line that looks something like this:

C:\Windows\regedit.exe/s C\Windows\System\radB9819.tmp

The name of rad.B9819.tmp may vary but will always start with rad. If you find a line with rad.B9819.tmp or something similiar uncheck it then click ok but don't restart yet. If you do see that line I gave then also search your computer for radB9819.tmp (or whatever rad.tmp file is listed) and delete it then restart.
