Hi All - I have tried to set and re-set my Home Page to numerous times but whenever I open IE it opens to iGoogle.com instead. I have current virus software and it scans but detects nothing. How do I stop this from happening?? Thanks

Hi,

This has nothing to do with MS Office.

You might want to try one of the Windows forums to et a better response.

I have since discovered that it is actually a setting of some sort that came with the Gateway computer. It is an advertising scheme for Gateway products, and to answer Papadba's question, I went into internet settings and typed in my desired home page the usual way, but no matter what I put in there, the Gateway software overrides it somehow and adds a bit of 're-director' code that takes me to the iGoogle page anyway. It stinks. I have to work it out with Gateway and they are not being cooperative.

If the computer is nearly new (and hopefully paid for with some kind of credit card), you might send an e-mail to the marketing people at Gateway suggesting that if this is not resolved to your satisfaction quickly, the system will be returned. . .

Yes... Since it has been several times back to Texas for repairs (3 times, and we've had it just 5 months) I have considered of a number of scenarios of things I would like to do with that machine, some of which may not be considered entirely sane, but alas it is half-owned by my wife who thinks it is pretty.... It is shiny and red. That should count for something, right? Right???!

Try using the following software: adaware or spybot search and destroy

Zelgar - I will give one or both a try when I get home this evening.
Thanks

Ah, err, ummm, possibly more than the usability of the box. . .

Does Gateway give any reason that they will not tell you how to stop their interference?

They are Gateway. That is reason enough. Dell does the same sort of... stuff.

You all are assuming that when we buy a computer, that it then should belong to us. WRONG! It belongs to whoever built it. We are to obey them as slaves and pawns until we blow the machine up with some sort of nitrogen explosive. Then we relinquish control, and not one moment before!
