I have a network running quite happily for ages now,4 PC'S running win 2000 using internet connection sharing on a broadband connection, using a hub.I now want to install a ADSL Router(Mentor),I have managed to get it to work with two of the PC's but for some reason the other 2 PC's can't see the router or any of the other PC's and the two relevant network port leds on the router(also a 4-port switch)flash rapidly. The router has DHCP assigned to the LAN side,I have even had a HP Laserjet printer networked off the router working along with the 2 PC's that will work.If I put everything back the way it was without the router, just using a hub everything works without any problems.Any help would be much appreciated, thanx in advance.

I will assume (which is dangerous) that with the ADSL router you will be using NAT to 'mask' the PCs from the internet (i.e. only one IP (PC) will be advertised on the web). That said, each PC will be plugged into an ethernet port on the router. Now, I believe you will have to eliminate anything to do with Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) from all the PCs. This will involve un-bridging any bridged network connections. Make sure DHCP is enabled on all PCs (Automatically Obtain Address) and reboot them. I have seen problems with ICS UN-installs before. Once I even had to physically remove the network card, boot up w/o it, uninstall the associated driver, then reinstall the card to get it to work. Hope this helps.

ICS is a service. On the former ICS HOST machine, uncheck the ICS option in network properties; or Start, Run, services.msc and stop the service and set its startup to disabled.

No other changes are required on ICS client computers.
