Hi this may sound a lil dumb but I’ve been stuck with this problem. My home Network consists of 3 computers a router and the cable modem of course. The main problem is that when I decide to browse the net or play a ping dependent game my other 2 people which are using the computers decide to download files and my ping SKYROCKETS to 1000+ which isn’t fun in any game or I try to browse the net and I have to wait a long time for anything to load. I was wondering is there a solution? Is there a program that can handle bandwidth control? Can I actually say ip1 uses 40% ip2 uses 30% and ip3 uses 30%? That would help so much but I tried to find a solution but to no avail.

Thanks,

Dukie

I've seen this type of weighted bandwidth management on high end routers (like Cisco), but I think that you are SOL on your $100 SOHO router. Of course you could always go buy a 2600 on Ebay and get this capability.

Or use a Linux firewall instead of your home router, and throttle the bandwidth with it.
