Currently, there are two Macs at home (older iMac and a G3 beige tower). Recently signed up for comcast cable internet, and wish to network it. Hoping to find advice on equipment needed.

Goal: Modem/router setup in basement with ethernet cable to G3; wireless setup for the iMac on second floor bedroom.

Will need to expand in a few months to add a PC. Any suggestions on economical hardware and what I'll need to get started?

Thanks,
Max

I"d get a linksys or belkin 4port cable modem router, or an airport with a 10/100 switch. You should be able to pick one up for about $75 or so, unless you choose airport. If your iMac is older, it can't handle the new 802.11g cards. ("Airport Extreme").
Best of luck,
PT

Thanks, PTmon. I've been checking sales - and can get a good deal on the belkin router now. I'll check the iMac and see what cards it can take.
