Home edition - - - domain

Hi there

My manager has just brought a new PC in to the office with XP home installed on it, ive managed to get it all networked up but im asked for a password etc when i try and access the web and the shared drives!

is there anyway i can get this PC to join our works domain and basically switch it from Home to pro with upgrading the software!

You would need XP Pro in order to join a domain. If you did enough Google searching I am sure you could find hacks to get Home to join a domain but who knows what problems you could have down the road. It's just easier to upgrade to XP Pro.

Windows XP Home Edition stores only Remote Access Services/Virtual Private Networking and Passport credentials.

There is a "Manage Passwords" section obtained via typing Control Userpasswords2 in the Start Run box. In the resulting window you will get to it via the Advanced tab.

See if there is anything mentioned in "Manage Passwords"?
