Home directory time out settings

Does anyone have any idea where I can set the amount of time for how long a server will try to find the location of a mapped home directory in a user profile.

We are trying to make it so that if a user logs on and their server that houses their mapped home directory is not currently online, will not have to wait the 5 minutes that it seems to take to log on and will be able to work until that server is once again up without delays.
