Home directories in word etc

One thing thats been bugging me:

How do you get MS Word etc and other apps to look to the home directory specified in user accounts instead of the my docs / personal folder?
I thought that they were supposed to do this automaticly...

Any ideas?

In Word, the user can go to
tools > options > file locations
and modify this. There's a similar option in Excel.
 
Yes, I can do that, but it would take ages to configure every user that logs on is there a way to make apps point to the home directory automatically.

You could use system policies to specify a required path, or you could write a custom installation script that updates these paths automatically.
