hme0 no such interrface

I've done a fresh install of solaris 8 on a ultra 10 machine.
However when i type ifconfig hme0 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
if says no such interface

Have I missed anything.

Do a "ifconfig -a " to make sure the interface is recognised abd working.

You must do "ifconfig -a", if the interface HME0 is not listed, you must do this command:

"ifconfig hme0 plumb"

Then do "ifconfig -a" and now you must be abble to see the interface and do the rest for configuration.
