Hi all. Just searching for some advice. Been out of work for 3 months. Nothing in my area so I am researching Central MA and Easter MA (but not boston loop area) and Southern Maine. My problem seems to be no one is interested in contacting out of state prospect. I have been telecom manager for 4 years in my previous company but am limited because I do not have a BA or AS in my field. I have on the job training, Avaya training and have taken MCSE course but haven't sat for MCP. I dealt with fairly complex situations and we deployed the VOIP solution without too much hiccups. Any ideas? I am leaning toward the Hadley, MA area as I have family and friends out there.

Thanks in advance,
Jay

Telecom manager what is that? I think you need to polish up your CV.

I once saw an add for sales manager, one of the requirements was a drivers license (trucks).

He would be managing (driving) a delivery truck of (well known) soft drinks with a helper.

Managing is getting the work done by other people. The relation number of people x headache can be expressed as an exponential function.

Thanks svanels for your input, what title shoudl I use any suggestions? I only used that since it was my title at my old office.

I managed the telecom aspect of the company, from dealing with the vendor-ordering, making sure SLA were meet to installing the line, administrating the PBX, reviewing the invoices with billing. Training staff, making sure Network was running fine and delegating to backup staff. (And of course any misc duties)

-Thanks in advance,
Jay

What about:

In my former company I was the head/manager of the Telecom section.

The Telecom section is responsible for bla.. bla..

I had the direct supervision over X person, with skills ranging from etc.. to etc..

Direct responsibilies:

Dealing with vendors, staff training, network infrastructure reliability instead off "making sure Network was running fine and delegating to backup staff"bla.. bla..

Remember you are promoting yourself, and the guy reading your CV most likely don't know you or what you have done.
A list of A+, MCSE, MCP etc. doesn't describe what you have done or what are your skills.

A detailed description of your career would catch the reader's attention.

I should write in a style I call : shameless self promoting, but make sure that you can prove everything you write.
