Does hittest test a boundry of an object, like a square around it, or does it calculate the complex angles and so forth?...I'm thinking about checking on game programing...and trying to see what will work and what will not. ----------------------------------------

hitTest can be set to either test boundaries or to follow the actual shape of an mc. If you use hitTest as a method of a movieclip then you can test for x and y positions as you'd expect but also there's a "shapeflag" which you set as either true or false which will pick up the exact dimensions of the clip if set to true.

It's a bit slow and clunky though. It's probably better to write your own detection routine.

Thank you wangbar...star for you...since no one else tried helping for a week...
