Hitachi Drives Formatting Issue

Hi,

I'm trying to format some Hitachi 300gb drives, but ever time I format them I get the error fail reserve.
Some times the Hitachi drives would hang on formatting. Now I have some Seagate 300gbs too and those work fine.
Any ideas as too whats causing this issue or am I missing a step with formatting the Hitachi drives.
