I recently got a secondhand Hitachi monitor from a friend. The problem with thte monitor is that it's color is out of alignment. The upper left and lower right corners have a blue streak in them. The lower left and upper right have a red and yellow streak in them. Like someone twisted the color in the screen. Driving me crazy! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You need to make sure the system is seeing the monitor's model correctly.
Device Manager will tell you.
Also make sure you have the correct drivers installed for all things video.
IF all those things are in order...the monitor may be going bad. No one to talk to that owned it before you?
Was it messing up then?

I have all the right drivers installed. I took the back off the monitor. There is a coil that looks a little dark. There are 6 adjustments on a board on the top of the tube. I can get the red back into alignment for a few minutes then it starts to go to crap again. I suspect it is the board or the coil. I'm by no means an expert on this stuff, but I would assume that it would be very expensive to replace this part. The numer on the board is MCL-437F(E). I can't find any maches on the internet that come close to being a circuit board. I was thinking of taking it to a repair shop like Computer Renassence to have it repaired or atleast looked at.

A TV shop probably could fix it. You need to be VERY careful poking around inside there. The high voltage is very dangerous and can kill you. It could also cost more to fix it than it's worth. Does it have a deguass button--probably on the front panel? If it does, try deguassing it. Jim

Please come back and let us know if your
problem is fixed and what fixed it!! [thumbsup2]

Degaussed it about a hundred times. Nothing seems to work. BTW... I was EXSTREAMLY careful inside the box. The adjustment in the back worked. It just didn't work for long. Do most repair shops charge if they can't fix it?

There may be a minimum shop fee to look at it. Depends on the shop. Jim
