History stages combined

Using Photoshop CS3/Vista. I watched a photomerge tutorial and tried to duplicate. As the photomerge process works, you can see the history lisitng each stage as it processes the merge. When the photomerge completes, all stages of history are combined into one stage titled "Untitled Panorama." What happened to my other stages? I need it to list all 100 steps or however many it actually takes.

You could look at the script that does the job.
