Dears
Hi,
I am trying to re-install Operating system of a Hipath4000 V5 (with HDCF Card and original hard disk MHW2060AT) Duplex and I have red the attached PDF from Siemens and also I have red mentaioned threads but after doing the steps like this:
1- connect hard disk to computer directly (via USB IDE Adaptor)
---- OK
2- initialize disk
---- OK
3- format disk as FAT32
---- OK
4- copying "V2.0_HDCF_Boot_Image" to disk using hdclone tool
---- OK
5- doing step 1 to 4 on CF card
---- OK
6- connect hard disk and CF card to HDCF card and insert to Hipath4000 CPCI and power on

at this step if I ping 192.0.2.3 there is no answer from hipath and when I connect to ADP via Serial cable comport4 speed 38400 the out put is like this and scrolling and cannot start system with error 8864 and fault on PDS:

I've never used PC-HI, but from what we went over briefly in class that was supposed to be the tool to use. If there is an option in there to completely reformat and re-partition the drive I would do that, and then load the system image onto the disk.

Have you re-seated the main processor board and the disk controller board? I assume you have, but just in case it never hurts to clean up the connections.

Dear
donb01 (IS/IT--Management)

Thank You for your answer.
I found the problem one of my colligues downloaded the wrong version of boot Image "V2.0_HDCF_Boot_Image" and placed it in the path of hipath 4K OS installation, by using the right one "V5.0_HDCF_Boot_Image" the installation was successful.
and I have an other question about using PCHI there is an option for installation of SCSI but it doesnt work for version5 what iis it for?

Best Regards.
Hamid

The SCSI was for the earlier HiCom 300 Systems that uses SCSI Hard Disk Drives only.
