Hi guys.

I have HiPath/Unify 4K v8 with 4 digits interanl dial plan (XXXX).

Need to change dial plan from 4 (XXXX) digits to 5 (XXXXX). This is the main goal. Changing whole PBX to 5 digits is not possible now.

It is possible to use 4 and 5 digits dial plans at the same time if I have free initial digit (4 for example)?

I've found this article
and as I understand it is possible.

I just need to add proper WABE and LDPLN.

I would be very appreciate for any advice.

Do you have any networked sites that use 4 digit numbering also ?
Do you have a voicemail system ?

If you have 2xxx,3xxx,5xxx,6xxx,7xxx,8xxx
9 for CO
0 for Internal Operator

Then add the new numbering ranges via WABE
ADD-WABE:40000&&49999,,,STN,N; etc.

Then change the numbers
CHA-SBCSU:2000,42000;
etc. (Make up a file for this)
CHA-SCSU:STNO=2001,NEWNO=42001; - again make up a macro file for this using Excel etc.

Voicemail will have to be changed to 'see' 5 digits incoming

You should also setup an old voicemail system with a few ports to give an internal announcement:
"The number you have dialled has been changed to 5 digits, prefix the number dialled with 4 and dial again."

You will need to check your incoming calls also to see how many digits are coming in from the carrier.

Ideally an experienced tech should carry out this task.
Good Luck.

I have 4 digit numbering sites. But they already have internal numbers which I don't want to change.

"Do you have a voicemail system ?"
No voicemail.

"Then change the numbers
CHA-SBCSU:2000,42000;
etc. (Make up a file for this)
CHA-SCSU:STNO=2001,NEWNO=42001; - again make up a macro file for this using Excel etc."
I want to preserve existing internal numbers.

"You will need to check your incoming calls also to see how many digits are coming in from the carrier."
I'm planning to use these XXXXX numbers only as internals.

I want to keep all existing XXXX numbers.
At the moment I can free up 4th initial digit.
It is possible to use XXXX and XXXXX dial plans at the same time ?

I already have this
ADD-WABE:2000&&2999,,,STN,N; etc.
I want to add this
ADD-WABE:40000&&49999,,,STN,N; etc.
and have ability to call from 2001 to 40001 and vise versa.

I am confused now - do you want to move to 5 digit numbering or not ?
Numbers can not be ambigious - if you have a 2000 then you can not have a 20000
If you have 31234 it is possible to use 3125 but not 3123

I have 1XXX, 2XXX, 3XXX etc phone numbers.
But I want to add 4XXXX phone numbers.
At the moment initial 4th digit is free and I want to use that as 5 digits dial plan.

"Numbers can not be ambigious - if you have a 2000 then you can not have a 20000"
I understand that. I dont want to change 2XXX.

"If you have 31234 it is possible to use 3125 but not 3123"
Yes, crossing phone numbers. I want to keep all existing XXXX as they are.
I just want to use initial 4th digit (which never used before) as XXXXX dial plan.

Yes of course it is fine to add a 5 digit range in amongst the existing 4 digt range - as long as the end users are familiar with that.
Maybe you could migrate users gradually over to 5 digit using that plan.

You should check the AMO TWABE beforehand

REG-TWABE;

If there are no entries then just proceed to add the 5 digit range - test

Yes, that exactly what I want to do in the near future.

Thank you.
