Our client would like us to move the 19' remote shelf from the server room to a remote site and leaving the two ecoservers in the server room . How can we extend the control card cables over the client's LAN ?TIA
Confusing message, you say remote shelf but want to extend control cables. I would expect a remote shelf to already be an IP shelf (shelf numbers 17-99), which could be put anywhere, and moved anywhere (depending on if it is a shelf on local subnet, UCSU config APDL, or a different subnet from main 4K, UCSU config APNW).
But if it has control cables, i.e. cables between the processor RTMX cards and the shelf LTUCA/LTUCR card, then it's a local LTU shelf (shelf number 1-15). Those cables are only supplied as 2, 5 or 10m. You can't extend the distance any further than 10m or you create the risk of the shelf becoming unstable. You cannot extend those cables over LAN, it is not supported. If you found a gadget to try and do it transparently, I would expect the shelf to be unreliable.
They either need to move the Ecoservers with the shelf, or convert the shelf to an Enterprise Gateway and reconfigure.
Edit - and you are V8. You won't be able to buy the licenses or hardware you need for the V8 4K.
