Good day. We have Hip4000v5 connected to a Auto attendant/Voicemail server via a SIP trunk. The server is a product bu C4B Xphone connect v4.ish. When client makes selection of dept. It put you on the servers moh and rings the no. When person answers though, the call drops. I am really stuck. Help will be appreciated.

You would have to do traces to determine where the fault is

Thanks sbcsu. Could you guide me. Would it be a trace on the stmi card....or from hipath assist?

You could start with HiPath Assistant just to see which equipment drops the call

I would maybe start with Wireshark or tcpdump from the autoattendant. If you use RDS on the Assistant and the STMI drops it, you'll see an incoming disconnect and blame the autoattendant, when in fact STMI may have disconnected both directions. I can't remember if IP Trace was in V5 Assistant but even if it was, it's clunky. A quick SIP trace from autoattendant is probably fastest. Although, if you're going to make traces, the STMI logs might be useful. If you have the loadware which provides trace profiles, you should go for SIP trunk, detail.

The Auto attendant has like a built in Wireshark. It also has a logging function for the Voicemail and Voicemail player. I did do a wireshark trace as well. I am fairly conversant in networking...not an expert on Sip. These traces and the Sip(general, payload etc) on Stmi pump out allot of information. The attached transfer methods on the Auto attendant is in the attached picture. Only the higlighted 2 channel method works. The other methods rings at the selected ext, but as soon as user picks up it drops the call. The last method deflection....doesn't work at all. My Siemens support says it should be like a blind transfer. Let me see what traces I can uoload. Thanks again.1000117702.jpg

It might be the case that a LW update on STMI would help, especially if you have something from V5 still. Maybe you need to look ahead to LW a little newer.

Wireshark trace and STMI logs on sip trunk detail profile would show more.
