Greetings,

What are the options on setting up a system wide speed dial or translation pattern that any user can dial and be directed to a Helpdesk. The extension desired is 4357 and the destination is a toll-free number 800-800-XXXX. The site uses 9 for outside dialing access.

Please provide Assistant GUI tips - not much experience using CLI.

Thank you for any help!

Create it as a logged off extension (no PEN), make sure it has a COS that allows forwarding to CO, and then set up general call forwarding to that 800 number. Be sure if you need them you include the 9 for an outside line and the 1 for long distance as part of the number. Any time someone calls 4357 it will then forward to the 800 number.

Thank you again for the input donb01... do you know what the default COS is for the HiPath 4000 that will permit CallFWD to CO? Also, can you explain the Hotline feature in the Assistant GUI?

I don't think there is a default COS for CallFWD to CO. The customer usually has to request that it be turned on.
When you open the station in staion tab, click the COS1 link. That should open the assigned COS for the staion.
Check the Voice 1 tab and checkmark FWDECA. I have FWDEXT checked also. I believe that's all that needs to be done to the station. There may be some Trunk COT and COP params too but hopefully those were configured correctly at install.

In Assistant, go to tables, chose COS (Class or Service), do not enter one hand hit search.

Then go to object list and you should see them all as spreadsheet lines.

Click on one and choose Object to see it.

On the Voice 1 tab look for FWDEXT box. If it has a check in it that COS will allow forwarding to outside. Normally your COS entries might be named after what they do - trunks, analog, optiset, optipoint, etc. Try to find one named after a station type so you get the rest of the station parameters.

I caution against just adding the tick mark in the box and going on your merry way because that will open up that feature to anyone who is in that COS, which could have unintended consequences. it would be better to create a new COS as a copy of one of the existing ones, name it something like Optipoint EXTCFW or something and add the FWDEXT parameter. Then just put the extensions you want to have that capability into that COS.

Thank you again for the input hamncheese & donb01.

The 1st attempt with this was the logged off ext, but i couldn't find the option to build it as a logged off ext. The system requested that I assign a configuration type and port so I picked an available un-assigned port and continued to build as optiset. Got through all the messages on the station page and finally rec'd confirmation that the system had built 4357 w/ call fwd, but it mentioned that the destination did not exist in the HiPath 4000 system. Test calls to 4357 returned w/ fast busy. I then called into TAC and the engineer found that the PRI settings did not have a public number, or "outbound mask" in IPT terms, and the carrier was rejecting the calls. Once the outbound mask was set (w/ISDN - National), the test calls completed and forwarded to the Helpdesk toll-free.

Thank you guys!

I have to admit I'm not sure of this because I don't use assistant to build stations, but instead go into expert mode, regen an existing one of what I want, and then copy it into the command line, change the extension number and PEN if needed and hit enter. Then I use assistant to tweak it if I'm not doing other things I have scripted.
You are correct that you have to pick a configuration type, station type and key layout, but I think you can leave the PEN blank if you want a signed off station.

Now that you have one you can go into expert mode, enter REGEN-SBCSU and give that station number. Then copy the results into the command line, change the extension number, hit enter and *poof* you just created a "phantom" number.

Glad you were able to figure it all out!

Thank you donb01,

Can I use the REGEN command to change the display name on a phone? The Assistant at 1 site is not working so all changes need to be done through the expert mode until the system gets upgraded. I have little experience using the RMX commands, but gather that the REGEN lists the config on a station - correct? I need to change the display on the primary and secondary ext of 1 phone. Both extensions are for the same person and need to change. Can I do a REGEN to accomplish this?

Thank you again!!

CHA-PERSI
type = name
give station #
enter exact spelling of old name
enter new name.

That should be how it goes. Sometimes you have to put " " around the old name if it has funny characters in it.

Thank you again donb01!

Is there a command to display current name of extension to make sure i get it right?

How about a help command for clarification on what the CLI commands are for?

Thank you!

DIS-PERSI:NAME,####; should work to display the current name of an extension.

I don't know of a decent command line reference, sorry.

Much appreciated donb01!!

Thank you for all your help!
