Greetings,
Need clarification on a HiPath's Hub C. Currently the HiPath 4000 system includes host, ipda (in different building), and 1 additional shelf in a room next to host.
Shelf 21 is currently patched in to a layer 2 switch that is used to network Node 1 (host) and Node 2 (IPDA in different building) via fiber modules. This layer 2 switch is sitting in the room next to the host, where shelf 21 is located - shelf 21's nciu card plugs in to this layer 2 switch. However, there are spare ports avaialable on the HUB C card of the host and would like to run a patch cord from shelf 21 and directly connect to one of these spare ports instead of connecting to the layer 2 switch. Is this it a simple matter of re-patching to an avaiable HUB C port? or is there any other config needed (e.g. shut / no shut)?
The idea is to minimize unnecessary IP traffic on these layer 2 switches that carry traffic between nodes. There have been several IP payload problems that surface every few months eventually resulting in loss of voice between nodes and want to clean up everything possible.
Thank you!
