I posted the first of these on another thread but then thought that it may be a good idea to start a hints and tips thread so to start off I offer these two. Feel free to add any of your own.

1/ There is a command which you won't find in the command manual (it's hidden away in another manual) which can be used to forcibly release a station or trunk. I have found that this can often get rid of some of the quirkier problems as it seems to reset the len back to a starting point.

The command is EB2 de stn number de ccc exe
(EB0 trunk number for trunks)
note for a digital you must prefix the station number with F

The way to use it is set up a call to or from the station in question run the command then wait for the call to be closed by the system it may take a minute or two.

2/ If you have a lot of customers in your matworx dial up list and are sick of searching for the entry you want you can reorganize them into alphabetical order (in the connect screen) by going to the matworx folder then the sub folder PAM10008 then the sub folder Database where you will find the file PbxProfile.mdb this can be opened with Microsoft Access. It works best if you open it with a version of Access later than 97. When you open the file it will ask you if you want to convert the file and you click OK it then allows you to give it a different filename once you have opened it you can go to the PbxProfile table and sort the files into whatever order you want (for example if you have 3 local connections with different speeds you can force them into the order you want by prefixing with spaces).

Then under the tools dropdown tab you will find database utilities which contains convert database select that option and follow the instructions to convert the file to access 97 format. Again you will be given the option to give it a name and you should save it back to the database folder you found PbxProfile.mdb in. then all you have to do is change the name of PbxProfile.mdb to PbxProfileold.mdb and change the name of the file you saved to PbxProfile.mdb and that is it.

Ozzie is correct about EB2>XXX or FXXX for stations and EB00>XXX XXX=Trunk for trunks its.
This can be found in the IVS2 Maintence manual for what ever reason NEC decided to drop it from the manuals on the IPS.
This can be used with E8>XXX> this will give you what station or trunk it is in use with.

Good Read.

Here's another but for the large systems.

You can put the same key data on multiple phones by creating an extension with the key data you want. Then you get the keydata and minimise the akyd window. Using astn swap the extension number with the next stn you want to have this key data. Maximise the akyd window and click modify then use astn to swap the extension numbers back. The prime will change but all the other keys have effectively been copied.

Just out of interest the same trick works with name display as well but it isn't as much use as the ability to copy keys. If I am transposing extensions I use it to cut down on the number of key depressions required.

It may be of interest to note that the tip for copying key data above is only necessary when copying data to existing extensions. If you are putting a new extension on then all you need to do is fire up AKYD and "get" the key data from the extension you want to copy. Then all you do is highlight the STN number and type in the new extension number, this will blank out the key data, then when you "get" the data it will insert the data from the one you just looked at all you then need to do is change the number on the key for the prime and "modify".

It seems that if it finds no data to display it simply displays the last one it can remember.
