If you had nothing to do with the key below this, then check it and delete it as well.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1

Download avg anti spyware from the link below
(once you have it downloaded and installed, open it up, click scanner, then settings, set the default action for detected malware to delete.) Now run a full system scan with it.

When finished, post another hijackthis log

There is a point in wisdom and knowledge that when you reach it, you exceed what is considered possible - Jason Schoon

Next problem.

Running a full Anti-Virus scan with Sophos has identified these three items:

1. Virus/Spyware: Mal/Behav-010: in several files
2. Suspicious Behaviour: HIPS/RegMod-010: c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe
3. Suspicious Behaviour: HIPS/RegMod-011: c:\windows\system32\winlogon.exe

If I try to 'Clean-Up' number 1 then the machine bluescreens with the following error message:

Code:
STOP: C000021A (Fatal System Error) The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly.

Thanks for your help on this.

rundll32.exe and winlogon.exe are both legit files that are needed for windows to run properly. You delete either of those and windows will crash. Do not delete them.

As for the list, check this and click fix checked

O3 - Toolbar: Security Toolbar - {11A69AE4-FBED-4832-A2BF-45AF82825583} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pkmvnxrh.dll

I have a hunch soon as you delete it, you can do a scan again and he will show back up. If so use this program to remove the file on next reboot.

Open it up, enter this location

Tell it to delete on next reboot and then restart. Then open up hijackthis and delete that line again. Post back with the results

Thanks I'll do this. Number 1 in the Sophos list is a whole bunch of .dat files - that's what I can't clean-up without getting a BSOD.

Thanks electronicsfreak that's now got rid of the dll. I'm really greatful for your help.

I've still got the virus issue as above (which may be a question for another tek-tips forum).

Also, the machine is still slow as a dog from logging on to displaying the windows desktop (maybe 15 minutes). Here's a System Startup list from 'Spybot Search & Destroy' - is there anything iffy in here?

This file is still showing

pkmvnxrh.dll

Which if it deleted then it means something else is putting it back everytime you delete it.
