HighMAT (*.hmt) files conversion?

I have a user who burned some image files to CD, and, not knowing any better, converted the images to HighMAT format (and deleted the original JPG's of course).

Now the HMT files are too small, is there any way to convert them BACK into JPG or BMP or something useable? I've tried Windows Media player, but it doesn't recognize the HMT file extension.

Irfanview supposedly can read them.

Apparently they can only be read properly when still on the CD. Do not try to save them to the harddrive first.
