Hi

My client is a Editor who receives submissions of articles which he often corrects using the "Track Changes" option in Word 97 and returns to the auther with his underlined and coloured (red) ammendments/suggestions.

If the original author holds the mouse pointer over a changed item, the editor and the time and date of the change are displayed.

Sometimes my client gets a third party to review and make these changes - we would like his identity to be hidden, but the changes to be tracked, is this posible?

I would want to avoid having to ask the third party to make changes to his Word setup.

Thanks for any help

Graham

I have never played with track changes but I believe it uses the Username from within the Word Options.

One way you could do it is place some code in Document_Open() which stores the username then sets it to Blank.

hopefully this would mean that the track changes username would be blank.

You could then put some code in the Document_Close() which sets the username back so the user can carry on as normal.

Go to:

and scroll pretty far down to "How to remove last 10 authors" or something like that.

And just in case you're concerned, I have found that saving as RTF, closing, then reopening a doc has absolutely NO effect on the formatting--meaning you don't lose anything. It's also a great way to get rid of corruption with tables--particularly in Word 97 files!
