Hi Aixers,

I have a problem with one of our servers that shows 100% in the usr sectoin of the CPU utilization!

There is an oracle 8i application running with the binaries and the data on rootvg (I know what everyone will say now :) This started to be a test database and now it is a production one! So i can see that we need separate disks for the data. But what i don't understand is why when our DBAs tries to drop some of the tables, the CPU usr goes high?!? I would expect something like high wait and high IO hit but not the usr!?!?

Any logical explination to that?

The Asynchronous IO (AIO) is still not modified (still 1 min and 10 max) so would i get a much better performance by increasing the AIO!?!

I have two internel Disks on rootvg, AIX5.2 on an LPAR (p5570 machine)

Regards,
Khalid

As i guessed, I increased the AIO max no to 100 and now our DBA said it became better since then!

I still need to move the data to an external disk in the near future!

Regards,
Khalid
