High response times

When pinging our core switch, which is a passport 8603 i get mostly 1ms response times however evey 10 pings or so i get 1 ping of over 800ms sometimes over 1000ms.

I have been told by some people that this can be normal when pinging a VLAN interface.

Can someone let me know whether it is or if not what the
issue could be.

Hello!

I have seen this before. It was not normal.
- What code do you run on the switch?
- Do you experience problems when working on the switch on the CLI?

I think a software upgrade fixed the problem. I will check!

The switch was running 3.1.2 software. After a upgrade to a new software, the problem was fixed.
