Does anyone know of any software to stream video (and preferably audio) actoss the internet at high quality? Bandwidth isn't an issue, we just need to be able to stream from one site to another with the highest quality possible.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,
Dan

what is the quality u are expecting - DVD/mpeg2

what is the application ...is it like movie/video on demand?

Basically, we are having to broadcast from one night club to another on a large screen. Bandwidth really isn't an issue, as we have a dedicated SDSL line, but we need some good software to encode the video, and preferably audio to be streamed to another site. We can use shoutcast to stream the audio if we have to, but a good quality video streaming package would be excelent.

Thanks,
Dan

... of COURSE bandwidth is an issue!

The question here, is MONEY an issue.

I suppose the way that I would do this, if it were me, is to have some hardware on each end, a ComPander (Compressor / Expander).

Out of the box, I'd probably look at something like a couple of Tandberg units (just off the top of my head). They're normally used for video conferencing, they have great compression and clean pictures, allow for two-way, communications, use either 384K or 768K of bandwidth, and have balanced mic inputs and SVideo connectors.

You might want to look at:

... it looks interesting... or give Tandberg a call (their number is on their web page) and see what they think.

No, I'm not a tandberg reseller or dealer, but I have worked with several of their systems.

In my opinion, if its for a business and you need this to work 100%, then you should look at the point to point T1 line..

Anything running over the internet isn't guaranteed..

*sigh* Just want to know if there is any SOFTWARE to stream the video? If you want to look at it like that, yes, bandwidth is an issue. But we are sister companies with an ISP so it's not a problem (that's what I meant).

Thanks for your help anyway guys, appreciate it.

Well, you're going to need a hardware encoding solution..

as to a brand of one that does what you want.. I don't know of any..

You could get some polycom units and pipe some inputs from a svid source into em..

Ok. The reason we don't really want any hardware to do it is because it is a one off. So, does anyone know any software that can do it?

All I'm saying is that you need a hardware encoding solution if you want high quality video.. Software isn't fast enough..

ok...fair enough...but this is for a one off (maybe twice used) solution, and we want software. I know hardware would be better in the long run, and I know hardware is better quality, I just want to know if anyone knows of any software to do the job?

Well, there is one other hardware/software solution....

Look at
... look for their VideoToaster 2... it offers switching, mixing, effects, and streaming. It's a hardware/software combination that would stream right over the web.
