High ping only to some servers

Why would I be able to download and upload at the advertised speeds but now ping 150ms to servers i was able to ping 20ms in? Some servers still ping at 20ms so i know its not the games fault... also happens using ventrilo.

tracert "over a maximum of 30 hops"
ping google.com min 120ms max 190

last night tracert reported hops that jumped from oregon to san francisco to LA to seatle... those were the only recognizable jumps on the list

Is this an ISP problem or could my ip adress be in the proccess of getting hacked?

any help is good help


P.S. Both of my computers have the same problem and have never been networked together.

I would traceroute to those servers, (TRACERT in a DOS prompt in Windows) to find out if the high latency was anywhere near your end.

As you can see in this example, my latency is prety good until I cross the Atlantic, when the speed of light gets me.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

mine would ping all servers past my dns above 100ms but now it wont even display past the dns.. i ping perfect to the dns.
The isp says their stuff is working fine.

Have you pathping your DNS server?
Same with other site.

If you have packet loses with router along the way adjust you MTU. Yahoo.com is a clean site to pathping

Google is not a good site as far as packet fragments, their internal routers fragment packets, as you will see if you pathping it.
