Can you place low activity index on one disk array and place the high activity indexes on another disk array? I have someone telling me to do this using file groups, but I don't know how to tell each index which file group to use. These indexes are all for a single database.

Thanks in advance,

I beleive in the command/syntax to create the index, you are able to use the "ON 'FileGroup'" to assign where it will be created. So, create your filegroup first and then create your index.

What if the indexes are already created? I'm trying to move a 3rd party application's database to a new server. It only uses the PRIMARY file group on the current database.

Thanks again!

You could drop and recreate them in the new filegroup.

Thanks
