My CPU temperature is quite high - 62.1*C/143.8*F. How can I get this down, ideally below 55*C. The sensors indicate: Board Temp: 24.1*C/75.4*F, Power/Aux temp: 36.6*C/97.9*F. CPU Core Voltage 1.8v.

I have checked out further information with SiSoft utility that reveals more worring problems with the cooling devices. The 'Auto Fan Speed Control' isn't enabled, how do you enable this option? There are no options for this in BIOS. Also, the Chassis Fan Speed is 4963 and the CPU Fan Speed is 796 - very, very low.

The motherboard I have is a MSI 6330le running Windows ME, 1.3GHZ, 512MB SDRAM 133MHz, LG DVD drive, Yamaha 3200 CD-RW, Elsa Gladiac GeForce 2 Ultra, DirectX 9, twin hard drives and Creative SoundBlaster Audigy. I'm not sure about the PSU, might be 250W.

Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!

Hey man, a really good way i've found (and very cheap too) is to get one fan near your heatsink (like on the back top of ur case) and then install a cardboard made "duct" going from the back fan to over ur heatsink fan. if done right, the back fan sucks cold air from outside the case, through the duct and the heatsink fan sucks that cold air onto the heatsink. This took down my cpu core temp from 62C to 43C during C&C Generals testing! so yeah cheap and good.

Enjoy!

A few things here:
Heatsink first: is it fitted the correct way around (recess in the base located over the socket "A" writing)
Have you used paste between the core and heatsink base (small rice grain amount applied to the CPU raised core)
Does the fan turn freely (when off spin with finger, does it continue to spin several rotations) if it appears to be seizing then strip and lube with light oil.
Have you plugged the CPU fan into the correct fan header, are you sure you haven't got the case fan and CPU fans mixed up?
Pretty sure the MSI 63301e doesn't have variable CPU fan speed control, this feature has only just been introduced on the latest boards.
Lastly, I have had several motherboards that report incorrect temperature, usually rectified by a bios flash.
Martin Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.
