I am creating a report where I have two query subjects D1 and D2, and one measure Dimension F1

D1 keeps State information, D2 has district level information. F1 shows sales figures.

Now Sales figures are based on district. say BilasPur(District D2) shows Rs. 15000 sales(F1). Now I need to show sales on state level. State D1 is associated to district D2. But State is not directly associated with sales.

How I will achieve it in Cognos.

I have created Dimensional hierarchy(as I need to drill down), where I set level as State -> District and set the scope with measure Sale. but not associtating sales with state level.

Nita

Sounds like a little snowflake pattern. You can merge D1 and D2 into a new model query subject D12 and then use D12 <--> F1 in the relational layer. You then build 1 regular dimension State_District with two levels (State; District)
